In the old days we used to shoot with large format cameras and check the shoot with Polaroid so we would check the shot first then the next saturation was checking the shot with a digital camera like a 5D Canon when I was using a 6 x 24 Roll film camera that I got three shots on a roll of film. I also shot on 4x10 and 6 x 12. Your eye sees 22 dynamic range levels, and a good digital camera like Hasselblad 2XD sees about 16. Back in the day I was inspired by Albert Watson Richard Aidan, Man Ray, Brett Wessern, and Ancel Adams. I think the only one really left that is still shooting of that calibre today is Clive Butcher and the Everglades in Florida when you look at his black-and-white? No, what I call cheating

It's the photographer that makes an amazing photo. Not the camera. Some of the most amazing images through time have been shot of the oldest cameras.

There... I've picked myself up off the floor from a long fit of laughter! The lens hood fiddling was PERFECT but was missing the usual muffled expletives. AND the brilliant part was that it proved to me that a Kase filter will stay attached to the front of the lens through all the "fits'n about". Kase here I come! ... my semi solution for the "lens hood line-up" issue was to put a small square piece of gaffers tape on the outside of the lens hood at the spot to hold upward when first putting the lens hood on the lens... before starting to rotate. Thanks for another fantastic video!

I purposefully buy cameras that are not weather-sealed, so when the weather gets bad, I have to go inside and watch your videos with you out in the elements taking beautiful pictures while I use my camera to take pictures of my feet propped up on my desk in front of my TV. Why have pride when I can have Oreo cookies and a hot chocolate.

That small hill is called Hang Man's Hill. And the bigger one is Signal Hill. First wireless signal from Marconi was received there.

Its called the Battery because I was set up with canons to protect the entrance to the harbour. Also there was a huge net set up that ran across the entrance below the water to catch UBoats from entering during WW2. There was actually one caught. During WW2, Newfoundland was a stopping ground for American Naval ships going overseas to fight in the war. They refuelled and supplied the ships there.

Topaz has some real problems. Try to use it on an image of water with ripples, you end up with big blocks of sharp and unsharp image which render the image useless. Topaz seem unable or unwilling to address this problem.

I've been reading the comments regarding roads in Newfoundland. Maritime conditions, Winter Spring and Fall, are torture for roads. I think of rural roads in my home province of Nova Scotia. I understand firsthand the complex roadbed construction of a rural road leading to Canso NS. The Small Town not Strait of Canso! Even NYC is challenged with her roads. If you are an adventurer you need a tough vehicle, a tough form of transportation. This is simply common sense.

I am from NL and ice bergs to me are a normal(and shitty) part of summer. Icebergs means cold but your morning pictures have opened my eyes to the beauty of ice bergs again.

They call them bergie bits. And if you go for a boat tour to see the bergs they play the Celine Dion Titanic song while you putt around the berg.
